rsm host agent function
I have ca & bc eva software to make two sites backup each other.
I got cd kit of rsm software:
(Server:
• setupRSMWin32.exe
Host Agents:
• setupwin32.exe for Windows
• setupHP11.bin for HP-UX 11.11 (11i v1)
• setupHPIA64.bin for HP-UX 11.23PI (11i v2)
• setupLinux.bin for Linux
• setupSolaris.bin for Solaris
• setupAix.bin for AIX 5.2
• setupWinIA64.exe)
So I want to ask what is the function of host agents ?
My cluster server is alpha gs80 with true64 unix , so I want to know what is relation between the rsm server and the host agent????
thank you !!!!!!!

Re: rsm host agent function
The RSM server is the control instance which requests data from the hosts (disk configuration), sends commands to the hosts to mount/unmount disks via the host agent.
It talks to the CV-EVA agent to get the storage array configuration or initiate operations like snaps or CA failovers.
It provides the user interface to create/ edit/ delete/ start/ stop scripts.
As far as I can tell, there is no RSM host agent for Tru64 Unix, but you can still use the RSM server to automate some EVA functions.

Re: rsm host agent function
RSM allows operating CA and BC from one tool and to automatically create scripts.
The Tru64 RSM agent is expected for mid 2006, so you cannot deploy it full yet.
Here you will find an RSM simulator to play around http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=316118&prodNameId=359779&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=co-33157-2
Cheers
Peter
