Smart Array 3200 Controller
Hi,
Somewhere in a forum I read that you cannot connect an external tape drive to a Smart Array 3200 Controller. I read it only once but I'd like to konw if this is correct. It could explain why I'm having problems installing the tape drives. For your information: I installed the controller in an old Proliant and I only need to connect 2 tape drives; no disk drives. I hope anyone can help. Thanks in advance.
Hans

Re: Smart Array 3200 Controller
What you heard is fairly accurate.
Your best option is to get a standard SCSI Host Bus Adaptor. You can probably get the SA controller to work, but the performance will not be as good as if you had a standard hba.

Re: Smart Array 3200 Controller
Hi Steven,
Thanks for your reply. That's all I needed to know, not happy but now I know I need to buy an extra SCSi controller.
