Smart Array 532 Failure

System: hp Proliant ML350 G2 with Windows 2000 Server.
C: 36.4GB logical - 3 x 18.2 GB (Slot 0,1 and 2 RAID 5)
D: 36.4GB logical - 1 x 36.4 GB (Slot 3 no RAID)

The 532 controller died and I replaced it with a Smart Array 641.

How do I load the drivers for it?

This seems to be quite tricky since I can't boot conventionally. I get a BSOD with a STOP: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

I can get in on the Recovery Console by booting from the Win2K Server CD, pressing F6 to load additional drivers (latest 641 drivers), chose the Repair option, and then the Repair Console.

MBR is intact - I've run fixmbr and fixboot. All the logical/physical drives and partitions are intact.

Re: Smart Array 532 Failure

hi Andr├Г┬й

the driver loads ok?

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26032.html

why if you try repairing windows instead of recover console

when you choose setup windows windows it's going to tell if you want repair the existing installation... in that way install the driver for that controller

Re: Smart Array 532 Failure

Apart from a few minor issues (Veritas Backup Exec 10.0 needs to be re-installed) the "Repair" as decribed by Karlo worked great.

All that's left is the re-load all the Service Packs. That's really a minor problem compared to losing all my user profiles - actually the whole Active Directory would have been lost.
