Upgrading The HDD

Dears,
currently I have hot plug-play 2*146(10K) with RAID1 configured, I like to change 146 HDDs (10k) to 146(15K), how can I replace the HDD, how it will rebuild the data? How much time it takes? & how I replace the HDD, offline or online?

hi,

1, its depend if your raid is HW or SW ( OS level based )

2, how much time is depends on point 1, and the system performance.

ok so you could,

replace one disk and wait until the system will be remirrored.

i think online it should be possible.

If you have a smartarray controller replacing the drives one at a time should be no problem. Done it manny times.
Rebuild should probably take around half an hour but this depents on the rebuild priority setting of the raid controller and on the system load. Offline is usually faster since there is no os running.
