We've just installed an L1000 with one 4si Raid card, and connected 3 SC10's, 5-36GB drives each. Each SC10 is configured in RAID5. EMS is reporting that "there is an excessive number of media defects" on this drive - this message appears for each RAID set (3). HP support doesn't appear to know what is causing this message, or even if there really is a problem at all.
Can anyone offer suggestions?

Byron,
Sorry 'bout that. There is a defect in the RAID 4Si driver that causes EMS to be confused about the RAID logical drives. The messages can be ignored.
If you get the March 2001 Applications CD, you can load a new version of the RAID 4Si software that fixes this problem.
