Daisy chain SCSI cable
I have a cable which is Belkin External SCSI III Cable, 2 ft (part#: F2N991-02-T). Will this cable would work just as the original HP parts?
I am curious the difference between the SCSI 68-pin HD cable and the micro DB68 male-to-micro DB68 male External SCSI III Cable.
Thank you for your advise.

Re: Daisy chain SCSI cable
If the construction is the same and the connector is the same it should work.
I've tried alternate parts in this context and its never worked for me.
Your milage may vary.

Re: Daisy chain SCSI cable
I doubt it will work as well as the HP one as it isnt a multimode cable, according to the specs.
However it depends upon what the interface that the ds21xx enclosure is attached to and which ds21xx it is, ds2100/ds2120?
Its scsi 3 so capable of the 80mbs the ds2100 is, so connected to an LVD i/f it should be fine. connecetd to a standard single ended i/f it would'nt.
The multimode means the cable can sense and switch to the best speed/situation, thus eliminated scsi errors. Its still important to have the correct terminator on aswell though.
The difference between the 68-pin HD and micro db68 is just different manufacturers terminology, ie HP been different?

Re: Daisy chain SCSI cable
Both enclosures are DS2120 and they are conneting to LVD U160 SCSI adapter.

Re: Daisy chain SCSI cable
In that case I would say no then, dont use it.
The ds2120 is capable of running at 160mbs and your interface is aswell. I'm pretty sure that the disks your running will also be.
The belkin cable can only run at 80mbs max so using this will completely slow the bus transfer rate down for all the disks to 80mbs, and you may also experience scsi errors/lbolts
