Disk firmware update

I'm trying to update the firmware for A3714A disks in a 12H disk array. I found the firmware patch (pf_dseach3hp04) & tried to update the disks but got an error after it shutdown the array. I've been told by my software support people that there is no firmware update for individual disks in an array. I was able to update the controller array firmware. Thanks

Re: Disk firmware update

John,

That is an incorrect statement...There are firmware updates for individual disks within the 12H array.

Re: Disk firmware update

Nonsense, you can update individual disks in a 12H. In fact, you would have to able to do this because you could have several different disk models within the same AutoRAID. Note that the download utility has a -D option just for this. Man download for details.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Disk firmware update

What type (model/part number) are the disks that you are using and I can tell you what the most current firmware is.

A3714A disks. Latest firmware is HP04. I downloaded the patch but when I tried downloading the firmware to the disk with -d option I got a scsi error.

Re: Disk firmware update

Here you go:
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|patch.breadcrumb.search|&patchid=PF_DSEACH3HP04&context=firmware:disk

You gunzip and untar this and then use the download command on the untar'ed firmware file.
