Hi, I own a Hewlett Packard Pavilion 8565C. I attempted to run an application recovery on my system because I have a problem with my c drive. The 1st time I conducted the application recovery--my computer read--Attention: A serious disk error has occurred while writing to drive c. retry (r)? Also, I performed the application recovery a second time, whereas my system read--not ready reading drive c

Sounds like you are experiencing a Drive Controller failure. One way to be sure is to enable the SMART option in BIOS to check the condition of the drive. Also on some of the HP units you are able to boot off of the secondary controller if the first controller has no drives attached. It's a long shot if the controller is going, but worth a try. Your last option is to disable the onboard controller and install an aftermarket one.
It's important to note that in my experience with HP units, when the controller on the board fails.. its only a matter of weeks before the whol board goes up in smoke. So if you end up using an aftermarket controller, Be prepaired for total failure.
