Hard Drive Model Number Matrix: Assembly 518194-002
I've noticed that the 300GB 10K 6GB 2.5" SAS HDD appears in the Hard Drive Model Number Matrix three times in two different sections: Two entries in the hot-plug section and one entry in the non hot-plug section...
Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) SFF 2.5" Hot-Plug Hard Drives for other uses / SFF 2.5" Hot-Plug SAS Drives
DG0300FARVV
Dual-Port SAS 518194-002 HPD8
507127-B21 507284-001 Hot-Plug 300GB 6G 10K rpm, SFF 2.5" Dual-Port SAS hard drive
DG0300FARVV
Dual-Port SAS 518194-002 HPD8
507127-B21 507284-001 Hot-Plug 300GB 10k rpm, 2.5" Dual-Port SAS hard drive
Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) 2.5" SFF Non Hot-Plug Hard Drives / Non Hot-Plug SAS Drives Bare Drive
DG0300FARVV
Dual-Port SAS 518194-002 HPD8
537809-B21 537820-001 300GB 6G 10K rpm, SFF 2.5" Non-hot Plug Dual-Port SAS hard drive
Why is this? Is it just a typographical error or is there something more subtle that I'm missing?

Re: Hard Drive Model Number Matrix: Assembly 518194-002
Just based on the above, I'd guess that the second hot-plug is a 3G disk.
But it does seem strange that the 3G and 6G disk would have the same model/spare/option numbers..

Thanks, Johan.
I understand the bare drive model number and the bare drive assembly number but what are the spare and the option numbers?

Re: Hard Drive Model Number Matrix: Assembly 518194-002
option - when buying
spare - when getting a replacement or perhaps also when buying
when you get/buy either of these, you may not get exactly the same disk drive model but any that is equivalent

Re: Hard Drive Model Number Matrix: Assembly 518194-002
To be precise
* It all depends on the spare part number
* All 3G speeds hard drives have been upgraded to 6G
* As you see first two entries have same spare part number and same b21 number ( this could be a duplicate entry )
*** Finally the last entry has a different spare part number for the same model number as all the specs are the same compared to the first two apart from the third being a Non Hot Plug Hard drive , same hard drive with just a hot plug caddy
