Hot Pluggable??

I have an exisitng RAID5 set using 9.1Gb Wide Ultra SCSI drives and need to expand the existing volume by ading another drive. I want to make 100% sure that these drives are hot pluggable and that I can simply insert the extra disk whilst the server is still running. The server is a Proliant 2500.

Re: Hot Pluggable??

The only time you can remove a HDD is when the array has marked it as bad. To do what you want to do is not recommended. Better to shut down the server and then insert the new drive. If the HDD you have, have two arms that are purple or port coloured then Yes you have hot pluggable HDD.
