How to Restore OS?

Recently I encountered an HP Pavillion 753n desktop that had a corrupted/severely infected OS. I wanted to re-install an OS. User did not have original CDs, if there were any. I noticed a recovery partition on the HD. I just need to know how to start this recovery. Is it an image?
Thanks if you can shed some light on this for.

Hi,

There are usually boot floppies for your HP server (or laptop). They access and make use of this setup partition.
