Installing EMC's PowerPath on HP Hosts.
Can anyone tell me what is involved in the installation
of PowerPath on HP Hosts. I need to know if I will need to export all volume
groups and import them after installation. Will I need to rebuild all volume
groups from scratch and copy data?

Re: Installing EMC's PowerPath on HP Hosts.
As this product is sold, installed and supported by EMC themselves, I would
suggest you contact EMC for any information you may require on the PowerPath
product.

Re: Installing EMC's PowerPath on HP Hosts.
One other thing to consider before buying/installing PowerPath. I had been
told by an HP rep. that since PowerPath modifies the kernel, HP may consider
the system non-supportable. If you have problems with the system and call HP
for support, they may tell you sorry.
This conversation happened last year, shortly after the XP256 was introduced
and EMC and HP were not on best of terms. I'm not sure where they stand right
now. Check on it before proceeding.

Re: Installing EMC's PowerPath on HP Hosts.
Gregory,
First off PowerPath is supported by HP, contact your EMC rep for more info.
You do not need to do anything to your Volume groups in order to use PowerPath. Just install software and reboot.
