Micropolis Tomahawk 9.1 gig

I have had bad luck with these drives. I have a brand new one Model 3391SS and in the 9 gig array it will mirror but all access lights flash irractic not normally. When finished CIM shows it as failed the yellow light comes on. In the 4.3 rack it again mirrors irratic but finishes and stays on. Have another Tommy that works but again CIM shows it as an Async transfer rate. Should be 10 MTS. Is there something I'm missing here Firmware upgrade? Or are Tomahawk drives just junk. The Seagate's, Western Digitals, IBM's all seem fine. I haven't hit a Tomahawk that worked right yet.
