New HardDrive

I recently had my hard drive fail on me, which in short means that it now effectively contain nothing. It has numerous cluster problems and I have decided to replace it.

My question is how do I go about setting up the new hard drive. The computer doesn't know it is there, so I can't load an OS onto it. And I'm not sure how to set the jumpers on the back.

Can you please probide some details to this hard drive. Compaq Model number, spare part number, etc.
