Pavilion XL776
I keep getting the message that my a drive is not ready. The bios setup shows 1.44 3 1/2 drive, the explorer shows it, but it keeps giving me that message. I have disconnected and reconnected the cables and plug, even tried another a drive, no luck. Did something go wrong with the floppy disk controller or drivers for the floppy? Thanks

Re: Pavilion XL776
Have you tried another diskette? Sometimes the diskettes go bad (usually when they're old).
Other than that, since you've tried another drive... hmm... either you're putting the cables on wrong, or the floppy controller is shot. The floppy controller is part of the Motherboard, which means you may be in for a motherboard replacement.
If you're under warranty, it should be covered. If not, Motherboards are not really expensive (usually $100-200).
Good luck!

No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: Pavilion XL776
Disk reads fine in my other computer. Cables are correct (red stripe at pin 1) and also on floppy. explorer shows the a drive it's just that i keep getting the message "A:\ is not accessable, The device is not ready". If it is the controller, is there anyway to test it to make sure? Thanks
