See

http://www5.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000075965050

This document describes the process and location (ftp/http) of the hp04 firmware that should be compatible for your drive.

Re: problem update ST336704LC firmware

Hello,
I was seeing the Products id affected with this problem and they don't mention the ST336704LC Id.
but in my case i have this HDD id and i have the same problem.
the firmware existing on the HP site can't be installed on ST336704LC seagate 36 Gb HDD.
i tried to upgrade the firmware but it is impossible.
do you know if the is another link where i can find the firmware for the ST336704LC HDD.

Re: problem update ST336704LC firmware

Hello

Looks like I'm having the same problem trying to find this firmware. Can you please advise what server you are using this drive in and the current firmware version.

I have HP05 running on a few here, so later versions are available. I'll keep searching in the meantime.

Re: problem update ST336704LC firmware

hello,
i have the l3000 or rp5370 server .
In fact the HP05 firmware version is not for the a6110a HDD witch i have.
so if i have the product number i don't have the id number
and if i have the newer fimware i don't have the product number.
it's realy bad.
As by hp the ST336704LC series is not affected by this problem, but in my case i am facing this problem with that series.

Re: problem update ST336704LC firmware

I assume you are running 11i? Have you checked for vmunix errors in syslog, or used stm to check diags (this may be a disk failure rather than firmware issue)? Use 'diskinfo -v {rawdevice}' to check the current firmware version for this disk. I have a few drives using hp02 and they haven't been a problem. I have had drives with this problem and it is usually because the drive has spun down and is constantly trying to spin-up, but fails. This may also be causing SCSI bus resets which may impact the operation of the server.
