SCSI hard drive external storage
I upgraded my Netserver LXPro with a NetRAID and new 18G SCSI HD (8). After that, i had in my hand a bunch of 4G SCSI HD and a HPDA RAID controller (Mylex DAC960). I bought a storage case and put 8 4G drive in it, and then put the HPDA(Mylex) in a server (not HP). I have put 4 drive on each chanel with SCA to 68pin converters...
In the bunch of 4G HD, there is 5 Quantum,2 Seagate,1 IBM...all part number D3583C from HP.
How come i see only the IBM drive ?
Do i need some special SCA to 68pin adaptor to emulate the hot swap bay of the LxPro?
Please need some help !

Re: SCSI hard drive external storage
you're right. the hot swap disk get their SCSI ID from the NetServer backplane. You should find a way to give each drive it's
own unique SCSI ID.
own unique SCSI ID.

Re: SCSI hard drive external storage
My SCA to 68pin adaptor have jumpers to assign SCSI ID, DLY spin, REM spin and sync...
There is also a place to connect a activity LED...

Re: SCSI hard drive external storage
you could compare the switch settings on the LX Pro hot swap backplane with the ones in your other array. They are also documented on the Navigator CD's Information Assistant. What about the cable length? Do you have active slick termination at the end of the channel? Have you tried it also with only 2 disks connected?
