SCSI or SCSI 3
Hello
We have a ML370 G1 server with a four disks RAID 5 array. All four are SCSI 3 ultra wide. (Compaq part number CA05668-B32200DC)
One of them failed today. Since those hard drives have been discontinued, it´s not easy to find a replacement.
Searching on some old servers I´ve found on a Proliant 3000 a 18.2GB scsi drive. The only issue is that the proliant´s 3000 drive is a scsi ultra wide (it is not a scsi 3 ultra wide). Notice that the SCSI drive enclosure of the ML370 drive and the 3000 drive are different but both use the same FUJITSU hard disk.
My question is, can I replace the ML370 failed drive with the proliant 3000 hard drive even when the drive speed is not the same?.

Re: SCSI or SCSI 3
In a Raid setup it is always suggested to have the similar specification drives.
Call up HP they may be able to help you in getting the compaq disk drive replaced.
In case of repalcing with PL3000 series disk drive, I think there could be some performance issues, Because in a SCSI bus the drives would work in the lowest speed of all the drives.
Hope this helps you

Re: SCSI or SCSI 3
William,
Ultra320 drives should be backwards compatible with your Ultra2 interface.
