Ultra wide scsi 3
I have a 18.2 GB Ultra wide scsi 3 compaq pluggable hard drive which I would like to use in my Dell PC. Can I buy a SCSI Card/cage that will enable me to use it and if so how much will it cost. The drive does not have anywhere to attach a standard PC power supply.

Re: Ultra wide scsi 3
Our Hot-plug drives are only for use in Compaq servers. There are no cages or adapters for use with other brands. The system has to be designed to handle this properly or it doesn't work...
The drive in question probably has an "SCA" connector (80 pins, combined controller, power and data). We do not provide adapters for these, but there are some on the market.

Re: Ultra wide scsi 3
Ron,
I have the same problem.... But wouldn't dare touch a Dell system if you gave me one. I have qty 2 of your part number 336357-B21, and wanted to put them in your ML370 but the specs don't match. Since I have them already, can I put them in my custom system (Not Dell, I won't insult)? I was wondering the same thing that this other gentlemen told you about not having a power interface for the drive like an IDE would. How would I get power to the drives and what type of controller scheme will I face? Since they are pricy drives, I would like to make an effort to use them without buying a Proliant 3000 for 2 drives. As an added reference, I can get the drive cage for this style of drive, there is one on hold for me at the warehouse in the event that I need this too hook it up to conventional PC. Thanks in advance for the information and time!
Glenn

Re: Ultra wide scsi 3
It appears that adapters to convert this drive to standard SCSI are easily obtainable. I did a search for SCA adapter & SCSI SCA converter and got what I was looking for immediately. If you are in the UK go to Scan.co.uk and an adapter costs about 20 pounds sterling.
