ULTRIUM 1 and ULTRIUM 2
What will be the ramifacations if I use an Ultrium 2 to replace Ultrium 1. I have a customer using U-1 at home and will be coming on site. I am giving him a U-2. Just wondering if I would have any problems with this solution, Thanks.

Re: ULTRIUM 1 and ULTRIUM 2
Hi,
The Ultrium 2 drives is read/write compatible with Ultrium 1 so this should not be a problem. What may be a risk is if a driver or application check the drive model and expect something like "Ultrium 1-SCSI" and get a response of "Ultrium 2 something" it say that the drive model is unsupported. Check if the application support Ultrium 2.

Re: ULTRIUM 1 and ULTRIUM 2
Another issue to consider is the fact that the U2 is faster than U1.
If the feedspeed drops below 10 MB/s on the U2, the drive will start shoeshining. On U1 the lower limit is 6 MB/S.
My point is, if the feedspeed isn't high enough then you'll see a performance drop compared to the U1.
Therefore make sure you have enough feed and speed to keep the drive streaming.

Christian
