Why a 2nd HD

I have a Presario 70G mem, w/AMD Athlon 1.30GHz. Why have another Hd? I know people that say they use for safer storage. Sorry I'm new at this.

It would only be safer if the same information were on both drives. If you had one drive for the OS and one for the files, if you upgraded your machine, you user files could be easily moved. This is how servers are setup; they have one drive with the OS. The other drives are in a RAID configuration and the drives are much larger. In a typical PC, you don???t need a second drive, unless you wanted more storage and you didn???t want to move everything from the old drive to the new.
