HSG80 ECB problem

Hi,

On a HSG80 i recenty had an ECB replacement.

After the replacement, every 24 hours , the SWCC sends out an e-mail saying the battery is low and within 7-8 minutes, it reports the battery as "Good" again.

Just wondering, if anything could be done to rectify this.

Thoughts please.

Thanks

Re: HSG80 ECB problem

Have you set the date on the battery? Also did you go through the proper removal and installation of a new battery?

If not that may explain your problems, on the other hand you may have a 'bad' new battery.

Re: HSG80 ECB problem

hi,

We did go through the proper replacement procedure.

One thing that you mentioned , setting the battrey time, was not done.

Could you please add more on this..are u referring to setting the controller time..is that supposed to cause this behavior.

Thanks in advance

Re: HSG80 ECB problem

No you actually set the time on the batteries, as they are supposed to be replaced annually I believe. And setting the time/date on them makes the SWCC send an email when they are near expiry. bear with me I'll have to dig out the command.

Re: HSG80 ECB problem

Hi Srivathsan,

I think that the frutil command is what sets the time and discharge history on the new batteries. I got my wires crossed with the set this_controller date xxx-xxx-xxx,etc.
but the forum post on this link below would seem to concur that the frutil is what should set the date on the batteries. Have a look at the post and see if this is what happened when you ran frutil, also run a show this_controller full and have a look right at the bottom of the output and check that the date on the expiry of the battery is a reasonable date in the future, I think it is normally around a year in advance of the current date. If its not then maybe you will have to run frutil again on either a new battery or the same one.

HTH

Re: HSG80 ECB problem

I believe the battery life is expected to be 2 years. At least it is on our EMA12000.
