SolutionThe HP SAN Design Guide usually has a section in the back of the document on Best Practices. You should find what you need there.
In my opinion, without clustering software, you will risk data corruption on the LUN if it is being shared simultaniously between servers. The cluster operation controls these functions and does not allow simulatanious LUN access for Read and Write operations.

The only time you would ever want to do that is in the staging phase of a server migration and you would not want any type of filesystem IO to occur on the "new" server until you were ready to cut over
