Mailx question

Hi eveyone

I have a question about mailx. I've started getting strange characters on my mail body messages so I've created an .mailrc entry in the user's homedir and changed the charset to use the language I need.
Everything works fine except for the subject line, that is, if I write a subject line with only one word there's no problem, but if I write a phrase in double-quotes I received strange characters (like these: =?pt_PT.iso88591?Q?mo=E7a?=).
Can anyone help?

Thanks,
R

Re: Mailx question

Shalom,

Put your characters in quotes. You may need escape characters but I doubt it.

mailx uses sendmail as its mail transport.

Re: Mailx question

Hi

If you mean mailx -s "subject here" xxxx@xxxx.com or mailx -s 'subject here' xxxx@xxxx.com I already tried both...with no success...I even tried mailx - s"/subject here" based on the mailx man page. Every word that is not in english turns into strange characters ...but only if it is more than one word.

Re: Mailx question

Shalom,

I'm pretty sure you can do it with mailx. The man page is pretty useful there.

http://www.hpux.ws/?p=7

That is a link to a sendmail script that has somewhat more flexibility than mailx.

It also can attach output files, which may be useful.

Please change the default email addresses in that script before you use it.

Re: Mailx question
