I'm curious to understand how the BMC version and BIOS version work on the XD Cray 670. I have a number of nodes with the current versions: 1.19 for BMC and 2.01 for BIOS. I see in the HPE Support Center that the latest versions are 1.21(A) for BMC and 2.05 for BIOS.
Do I need to update to each version incrementally, or can I go directly to the latest version since these updates are incremental?
I would really appreciate any clarification on this.
Thank you!

SolutionHi @fjacunha ,
For the HPE Cray XD670, you can update directly from BMC 1.19 to 1.21(A) and BIOS 2.01 to 2.05, as firmware updates are cumulative.
Update the BMC first, reboot, then update BIOS, followed by a cold boot. Use the HPE Cray XD Ansible Firmware Update Tool or HPE Firmware Update Utility with the latest .hpm files.
Verify versions post-update via BMC UI or ipmitool mc info.
Check the HPE Cray XD670 Firmware Upgrade Guide for any specific prerequisites.
