3PAR8200 Disk Replace Failed

Hello Everyone.

This is 555-Denoh.

My colleague went to a customer's site to replace a faulty disk in a 3PAR8200.
After the replacement, Servicemag did not start.
The log is as follows: Disk firmware update failed.

showeventlog.jpgshowpd-e.jpgshowpd-i.jpgservicemag-status-2.jpgservicemag-status-d-2.jpg
To start Servicemag resume, do I need to manually update the disk firmware?
How about `upgradepd -f -skiptest -w 5000C500A6F50F78`?
I thought 3PAR couldn't recognize the PDID, so I assumed it was a WWN specification.

Thanks Best Regard.

Hi 555-Denoh,

Could you check the PD model (showpd -i) and confirm whether it is the same model that of other PDs in the array?

Veeyaarvi

servicemag clearstatus 1 5
admitpd 5000C500A6F50F78
showpd -c ==>check 1:5:0 has pdid assgined to it

Re: 3PAR8200 Disk Replace Failed

Hi Hajime-san,

Thank you. I assume the array is running on an old version of Inform OS.

Anyway, try the below method.

cli%servicemag unmark 1 5

Are you sure you want to run servicemag?
select q=quit y=yes n=no: y

cli%servicemag resume 1 5

Now check the status

cli%showpd -p -cg 1 -mg 5 -s  >> Expected to see one of the PDs in that slot with status 'servicing'

Monitor servicemag status
cli%servicemag status -d

You can also see whether the chunklets are getting moved

cli%showpd -p -cg 1 -mg 5 -c

once the new drive comes good (normal), you can dismiss the old one.
cli%dismisspd 7

Regards,
Veeyaarvi
