Replacing DR 3PAR array
Hi
I need to replace our DR HPE 3PAR array with a newer 3PAR model. Currently the 3PAR array acts in an Remote Copy relationship with our production Primera array using aysnch periodic replication using RCIP.
Once the new DR array has been commissioned into the environment alongside the existing DR 3PAR, is there an efficient way to resynch all the RCGs - perhaps copying the replica volumes from the old DR to the new DR array locally? - somehow I doubt this as it won't have a common snapshot it can use as a baseline.
Or is the only option to delete the existing replication relationship between the Primera and old DR 3PAR arrays, create a new replication relationship between the Primera and new DR array and create a new set of RCGs?
I guess I could actually setup the new DR array local to the Primera for the initial sync and then relcoate it to the DR datacentre afterwards??
thanks

Re: Replacing DR 3PAR array
Hello @CadenLange ,
There are no such readily available options to sync the volumes from o'3PAR with n'3PAR. If it is highly required, you can migrate (peer motion) all the secondary volumes from o'3PAR to n'3PAR. And then, while configuring the Remote Copy between your Primera and n'3PAR you can choose the relevant volumes as secondary volumes. Later on only the delta will start replicating from Primera to n'3PAR over and above the migrated secondary volume.
However, considering the time, effort and complication involved in the above task, removing the existing remote copy and re-configuring with n'3PAR will be a better option.
If replication bandwidth (between Primera and n'3PAR) is a big concern, as you said, you can also consider setting up local DR (n'3PAR), complete the initial sync over high bandwidth and transporting to the DR site for ongoing replication. But I still recommend to removing and reconfiguring the Remote Copy with n'3PAR without the need of transporting.
o'3PAR = Old 3PAR, n'3PAR = New 3PAR
