Command view not responding

hi all,

Storage System Not Responding

The storage system is not responding to management command requests in a timely manner. This may be due to a prior management command request with excessively long response time, or a communication problem. CV EVA will recover automatically when the storage system is able to respond to management commands. Management command access to the storage system does not affect host I/O.

My host which are connected to EVA is working fine but when i open the eva command view from the management server it's giving the above error. how to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance

Re: Command view not responding

which version of CV-EVA are you using? which EVA model and XCS version? are you running Storage Essentials as well?

cheers

Re: Command view not responding

hi guru,

this may be due to any previous command which is still running or there may ba communication error. I have seen such errors and if u r sure that nothing important is running on commandview, you can restart it from sma. if u r not sure, restart the sma station.

(beware** if u r not the owner of sma, take proper precautions/permissions prior to restarting sma).

Re: Command view not responding

I am having the exact same error on my EVA. I have tried restarting the SMA several times and still see the same message.

Does anyone know of anything else I can try? I am willing to restart the EVA (controllers) if it will help.

EVA4400
CV version 8.0.2

FYI, I went to delete a test DR group and CV hung. I tried restarting both the service and the SMA but am still not able to manage the EVA.

Thanks.

Re: Command view not responding

Try in this order:

- cvtuil releaselocks -wwn WWN_OF_EVA

cvutil is in the same folder as Command View

- Restart master controller

You can know which one is mater from the OCP, scroll down the menus until you see "Mastership Status".

Re: Command view not responding

Oops. no, that you have an 4400, then the OCP is web-based. Restart the controller from there.

Re: Command view not responding

I will try to restart the contollers via WOCP and see if that resolves the issue.

Thank you for your quick response. It is much appreciated.
