Data Protector with hp-ux

hi

We work with Data Protector in Win 2003, but now we want work with hp-ux the questions are:

¿We need a installation server and a cell manager for each operating system?

if not it's necessary then
¿How we can see the GUI in hp-ux?

If you want to backup a new HP-UX box you can always keep the Cell Manager in Win2003 and setup a Unix installation server in the HP-UX box. Just be sure to acquire the appropriate license for your needs. You do not need a separate Cell Manager for different OSs.

Refer to the Data Protector 6.0 Installation and Licensing Guide

If you're talking about a completely new DP setup running on HP-UX then......

Hi,

You can make the hpux an installation server or you can just install the software and import the host on your cell manager.

You can work with your windows gui to manage the hpux server, or if you have an x emulation software you can start xomni to open the gui on hpux

You don't need a cell manager for each operating system but it's strongly recommended the use of an installation server. This for distribute patches to Unix clients. You can use the same Windows GUI to manage an HP-UX cell manager.
