EVA proxy writes
Hi,
Quick question. The technical team have removed proxy reads from the EVA, but we still see proxy writes. Do proxy writes add to mirror port traffic, or processor usage? Or does it make no difference 'coz all writes are mirrored anyway?
Regards
Alec

Re: EVA proxy writes
yes - all writes will be mirrored to the other controller over the mirror port. So if the total write MB/s does not match up to the mirror port traffic, the difference is your proxy reads.

Re: EVA proxy writes
Thanks for the reply. Not sure it really covers what I'm seeing.
When I track MB/s Writes and Mirror port use on from a perf log mirror port usage is pretty much double the total writes. There are no proxy reads logged, but some LUNs have proxy writes.
I've attached some tracks.

Re: EVA proxy writes
Here's another track over a shorter time that shows writes and mirror port use more clearly.
