HP OpenView Storage Data Protector

Hi,

I am new to the above subject. But I have
worked on HP-OV Omniback II.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two?

Thanks & Regards

They're the same thing. It was part of HP's confusing name shuffle several years ago.

Re: HP OpenView Storage Data Protector

Hi,
HP changed product from OmniBack to DataProtector in version 5.0 (the last version with OmniBack name was 4.1). It is still the same product (of course with some enhancements in 5.0). All OmniBack licenses remains walid in DataProtector, media is backwards compatible etc..

As leif has already mentioned. They are the same product.

I am studying for the Windoze exam at present. The notes still refers to HP Omniback in many different places.

You are able to backup all your kinky Unix systems using tar and cpio.

It's ideal for HP SAN. But you need to read the admin manually to get the best out of it.
