Re: HSZDisk error detected

Hi,

Are you using Secure Path ?
The cases where i have seen it is in dual path environments.
The HSZ disk errors do not seem to be errors of much concern for I/O.
It seems to me that the raidisk driver sees something it does not like.
In my cases (EVA -- HSV1xx controllers) the errors report that there has been some kind of error on of the disks seen by the hba/driver.
I wonder on which path and so forth.
Ive never been able to relate it to the real originator.

Rgds,

Re: HSZDisk error detected

Decoding this, it looks like DISK51400 is reporting 'Peripheral device write faults'
How:-
DISK: line 00c0, 3rd/4th in hex 050e=DISK51400
Instance Code: line 00c8, 0328450a (reverse order)
SCSI Sense data: line 00b8, last 2 xx

This error can indicate vibration in the disk casing. If this is the only disk reporting the error, suggest you fail the disk (assuming you have a spareset) and replace the disk.

Other common Sense Data errors are 17 01 & 18 01 (soft errors). If you get excessive numbers on a single disk, you should replace the disk as a precaution.

Re: HSZDisk error detected

Joel,

You're probably best starting a new thread on this rather than continuing a three year old one...

From a quick look down the event output you have quite a different SAN setup to the original poster...
