MSA30
We have a new DL360 G4 and we are attempting to get a MSA 30 attached to it. What I am currently looking for is a "best practices for installation" guide or even just general thoughts on this.
Any assistance is greatly appriciated.

Re: MSA30
If the box supports & if it is okey with your requirement, configure the array in RAID-1 (mirroring) which will give you better through-put in terms of read mb/sec. & write mb/sec. This will give performance as well as security.
If this is not possible, & if box supports, configure it to RAID-1. Although it gives you more space in terms of usable space after RAID, the performance is less than RAID-1. In this case, it is suggested that you keep atleast one HDD as stand-by. If your application is very I/O intensive in terms of writing, then this RAID is not recommanded.
Also, If this model has more that 1 I/O controllers, for better performance, configure the LUNs to be accessed from 2 or more controllers, as this increases the performance to some extent.
The on-controller cache is also a critical factor for performance.

Re: MSA30
Currently the MSA30 we have is an SB not DB so the Dual option will not apply for us.
Curious about the RAID1 configuration. I was actually going RAID5 on the array once we have located the actual MSA30 software to set it up.
Other ideas?

Re: MSA30
Optionally, you can purchase the DB I/O card and swap them out to have a MSA30DB (vs. your single bus shelf).
RAID1 VS. RAID5.... depends on your applications needs. If you have a Dual buss Smart Array Controller AND you get the DB I/O card replacement, you would be able to configure your Array across both buses.
