I currently have a fibre attached va7400 array. However recently with a issue a
armdsp -a va7400
I get the following response.
Unable to login to AAServer on host : localhost for authentication
Error logging in: TIMEOUT EXPIRED
All the config that I know is still the same so I am not sure what happen (this use to work). Can anyone shead some light on to what might be happening.
PS sorry if this is the wrong forum but it was the closet match I could find.

Re: problems with command view
Because if you have then in the database (datafiles) of commandView you will still see old system name which will prevent you from login.
In that case you rebuild the database using armdiscover command, or manually change the host names in the database file in /opt/sanmgr/commanview/server/data

Re: problems with command view
In answer to your question, no the hostname hasn't changed but the IP has. But I did armdiscover -v and it still doesn't work.

Solution1. /etc/opt/sanmgr/hostagent/config/commIpAddr.txt files contains the IP address of your server (check if has old IP still, if yes replace it)
2. modify the /etc/opt/sanmgr/hostagent/config/access.dat file to give access to the IP of the client you are trying to access VA from. Best to put the range say.. 192.168.0.*
Then stop the Dialer and restart it
/opt/sanmgr/commandview/client/sbin/HA_Dial_Stop
/opt/sanmgr/commandview/client/sbin/HA_Dial_Start
Cheers

Re: problems with command view
I only needed to modify the commIpAddr.txt file and restart the HA services and all went back to normal again. I don't know why there was an IP address from an unused NIC in that file since I don't recall using it at all, but I changed it for the server's IP and voila. How do I give points to the GURU for his help?
PS. I first contacted my local HP support center (Venezuela - South America) and they told me to reinstall commandview but since I didn't want to do that I entered the error message into google and this thread was the ONLY result that popped from the query. LOL. Venezuelan support should learn how to use Google.
10 point for the GURU!
