SCMI Max Objects on EVA

Hi all,

I have an EVA3000 with a bad disk. When I attemp to add the new disk back into the disk group. I get this error: SCMI Max Objects
Has anyone ever seen this on their SAN and what do I have to do to fix it?

Thanks again and have a long weekend.

Re: SCMI Max Objects on EVA

Remy,
I am not sure I have seen it before. It is possible that the agent has become confused and might have to be restarted.

Login to the Storage Management Appliance and go to [Settings], then [Manage Tools] and choose 'command view eva' from the list of "Application". Now click on [stop] and so on. Wait a short time and then start it again.

Re: SCMI Max Objects on EVA

Hi,

I've tried doing that as well, but still couldn't fix the problem.
I'm also getting this error message when trying to add the replaced disk back to the disk group: SCMI Insufficient Available Data Storage
I have 0 space available in this disk group. Could this be the problem?

Thanks again,
Remy

Re: SCMI Max Objects on EVA

I have no idea, sorry. The EVA should really not run out of disk group space - did you set the protection level to [none]?

Is the array running with manual disk addition policy? You can try to change that with: , then [Set option]. On the new picture choose [Set system operational policies]. Select the (o) AUTOMATIC radio button and press [Save changes]. I can't promise that will work, but it's the next thing I would try.

Re: SCMI Max Objects on EVA

If you have used up ALL of the available disk space, it may not have the required overhead space to level out and add the new disk back in.

Running out of space is not a good thing to do.

Question? Do you have any snapshots that can be deleted? I would attempt to delete any snapshots and try again. This should gain you back some space.
