Selective Storage Presentation

we have 3 msa1500/1000 controllers along with their ms30 racks of 300 gig scsi HD along with 50 plus W2k and W2k3 SE and EE servers with hba's all connected to cisco 9000 series switches so everybody and see everything. the problem is when going into the HP ACU and then into selective storage presentation and selecting a WWWport ID to a LUN the ACU dies requiring a reboot of the 1500 and the attached ms30. no controller has over 30 LUNs. Any help would be greatful.

Have you tried doing the configuration from the serial console, rather than the ACU ?

No I haven't. But here's another kicker, the last time I went into selective storage, the server(s) were named for that 1500, along with the associated www and the LUN. I went in to identify a new server to a new LUN (i.e. number 20) and BAMM, the ACU reveals a Big Stop Sign Error Detected message. That controller was rebooted along with the ms30s and going back into the ACU showed no names associated to the www/LUNs. I know this is only an administrative nightmare but i'm getting a little gun shy because if I go into the other controllers, 50 plus servers names will take forever to associated to the www/LUNs. FYI, most servers are running the latest support packs along with ver 7.85.18 of the ACU. Should I be going the console route? Should I be going to zoning on the 9000? Keep in mind there are 4 HP tape drives/libraries that all servers need access to for BKUPs. Thanks John

I flashed the firm ware with the latest update. I believe its 5.20. Active/ Passive. Went back into the ACU and created a new LUN, assigned a server, and saved it. No more stop signs. So do I get my points or maybe a new car? Yes a new car will do. an 08 corvette Thanks :-) John
