HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Compatibility & VMware Migration Inquiry

Hello Team,

I would like to request clarification regarding the deployment of HPE Morpheus VM Essentials (and HPE hyperconverged management solutions in general):

  1. Can HPE Morpheus VM Essentials be hosted on a non-HPE server platform?
I want to confirm if the solution is strictly tied to HPE hardware, or if it can run on third-party x86 servers while remaining fully supported by HPE.

  2. Is the solution fully compatible with VMware environments?
Specifically, I would like to verify if Morpheus can integrate seamlessly with existing VMware vSphere clusters, including VM provisioning, lifecycle management, templates, and automation workflows.

  3. Migration from VMware:
If we plan to migrate workloads from an existing VMware environment into an HPE Morpheus-managed platform, will the migration operate smoothly?
Are there any documented limitations or recommended tools/processes?

Any official guidance, support statements, or compatibility references from HPE would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for the support.

Re: HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Compatibility & VMware Migration Inquiry

Hello @anteneha

HPE Morpheus VM Essentials can run on non-HPE x86 servers, but full support is only provided for hardware listed in HPE’s compatibility matrix. Deployments on untested platforms receive “best effort” support, with no guarantee for hardware-specific issues.

Yes, HPE Morpheus VM Essentials (VME) is fully compatible with VMware environments. It integrates seamlessly with VMware vSphere and vCenter, supporting VM provisioning, lifecycle management, templates, automation workflows, and more.

Yes, Migration from VMware to HPE Morpheus VM Essentials (VME) is supported and can operate smoothly, but it requires following HPE’s documented migration process. HPE provides a Migration Guide with step‑by‑step instructions, prerequisites, and recommended tools.
Key limitations include the current offline migration requirement (requiring a downtime window) and the need for identical user credentials with administrator privileges for all VMs within a migration plan.

You may refer to the below document for the Migration guidance:

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Sanika.
