I am not seeing s snapshot option snapshot under
Infrastructure -> Compute -> virtual machines -> Action
Even if the vm is powered off. Should I be ?
Doing a trial and version is 8.0.6
I took a snapshot live from the command line on the host it was on ... but it doesnt appear in the snapshot list under the
virsh snapshot-create-as \
--domain mjdtest \
--name snap1 \
--description "Live snapshot" \
--disk-only \
--atomic \
--live
error: Operation not supported: live snapshot creation is supported only during full system snapshots
so then I tried the below and it worked
virsh snapshot-create-as \
--domain mjdtest \
--name snap-full \
--description "Full live snapshot" \
--atomic \
--memspec file=/mnt/97fd47ae-aa9a-4fd5-a16e-2af49d9e9fe7/mjdtest/mjdtest.mem
afterward
root@hp-vmessential1:/mnt/97fd47ae-aa9a-4fd5-a16e-2af49d9e9fe7/mjdtest# ll
total 15961960

SolutionHello,
It is important to note, running libvirt / virsh commands directly is not officially a supported operation. Snapshot management will not be tracked in this manner as libvirt snapshot tracking is a bit iffy. Snapshots creation can only be done (currently) from the Provisioning -> Instances -> Instance Details area. If you are trying to snapshot a brownfield vm that is not yet converted to managed in the VME manager, please first convert it and trigger the snapshot from the instance page. There is an active task to add this to the vm details page you mentioned and keep an eye out for that soon.
Thank you,
David
