sound model

I think VME has the following audio device setting by default:
<sound model='ac97'>

However, it seems that the guest (Windows) does not recognize it correctly because there is no corresponding driver. Even if they configure an audio device by default, what is the intention behind using "ac97"?

Below are reference URLs for other virtualization platforms.

Re: sound model

I have verified this on v9.0.2.

As before, the audio device is configured by default, and "ac97" is being used. While it's not a critical issue, I'm a bit puzzled as to why "ac97" is chosen even if an audio device is set by default. What target OSes do they have in mind when selecting "ac97"? It makes me wonder if it's appropriate as of 2026.
