Unable to create VM Windows Server 2022 STD - CD-ROM remove
Good evening,
I can't create a Windows Server 2022 VM on VM Essentials 9.0.0. There are errors during provisioning and nothing is displayed.
However, I've already managed to create two VMs without any problems: a Windows 11 and a Linux Debian. Today, after deleting and recreating the Server 2022 VM for the umpteenth time, also changing the ISO on the HPE ROK->Evaluation archive datastore,
When I connected the previously used 11 version and finally "something" was displayed in the console. I'm reporting the error indicated in the log but I don't understand the connection with the workaround I'll provide below.
That "something" is the EFI screen. I therefore disabled the UEFI option in the VM configuration (because I understood the UEFI option to create a UEFI-type machine, not a Standard one), and the Windows 11 ISO started.
At this point, I ejected the disk and reinserted the Windows Server 2022 ISO, and the system finally booted correctly. What a hassle!
I currently find this part of VM creation very cumbersome compared to other applications. VM Essentials Manager also lacks the ability to remove CD-ROMs: there's NO Recycle Bin, and apart from "Eject Disks" in the drop-down menu, it's not possible to remove drives from the VM.

Rif.: Unable to create VM Windows Server 2022 STD - CD-ROM remove
I created another VM this time with Windows Server 2025 and I confirm that the provisioning fails.
