Expansion Shelf Installation Error
Hi~
I extended ES3 Self to AF-20. The current AF-20 Firmware is 5.0.7.300-644174-opt.
If you select Activate as shown in the picture below, it will not run due to a firmware error.
As far as I know, it seems to be because the AF20 firmware is low.
Is this problem correct?
How far can AF20 firmware update go and how many steps do I have to take in the middle?
And I can't download the firmware from infosight. Where can I download it?

Hi Sangbae,
Hope you are doing good.
Yes, you are not able to activate the shelf as the array is in old firmware.
Can you please try to download the firmware from the array itself using the below steps:
Login to GUI > Administration > Software > Download.
The latest recommended version is 6.1.2.600 but I believe it will be 2 or 3 hops to get there from the current version.
If you get any error downloading the firmware from GUI, please contact our support team via phone and let them know the serial number. Please find the contact information below:

Hello
The error "The SAS expander firmware version of this shelf is not valid" is due to known software bug (AS-97013 AND AS-46368 ) which is fixed in Nimble OS version 5.2.1.800 and later.
At this stage, please do not update/reboot/failover the array as it may result in reboot loop. (due to bug AS-97012)
We will have to update the ES3 shelf firmware manually. Please do engage our support team referencing the the error message and serial number of the head shelf.

Does this step refer to when to proceed with the firmware?
I want to perform firmware work without shutting down the server connected to the storage. Will there be any data loss when doing this?
I got 5.2.1.1100 from HPE. Will updating to that version allow me to activate the expansion shelf?

No, you should not be updating Nimble OS with the shelf attached, it will result in reboot loop of the controller. As mentioned in my previous reply, the error you are seeing is due to a known software bug and it needs to be fixed first.
Once the shelf issue is fixed, then you may update to 5.2.1.1100.
