Compaq Proliant Storage array

Hi,

Can anyone tel me of an Compaq Proliant Storage Array accepts 73 GB SCSI-wide hard drives?

i have an

Compaq Proliant Storage system U1
and
Compaq Proliant Storage System RS0/U

Now there filled with 14*18.2 GB disk, but if one fails i want to replace it with an 73 GB.
Does the controler accepts that? and the Bios too?

the managing server is an

thanx by now

There should not be a problem, but if the 18GB is not RAID 0, you will not realize over 18GB until the drives other 18GB partners are replaced also.

Re: Compaq Proliant Storage array

The whole aray is set in RAID 5, but i think all the drives has to be replaced before i can resize the logical partition, right?

Re: Compaq Proliant Storage array

That's correct. Replacing a single 18.2 in a RAID5 array of 18.2's will simply result in 55GB of unusable space on that drive until such time as you replace all the other drives in the array too.

Of course, if that's all you have available, and one of your 18's is failing or has failed, then it's worthwhile as an interim fix.

Re: Compaq Proliant Storage array

ok, thats clear. But now is the question, will the Bios accept 73 GB disks? i cant find any info about it. i have the latest firmware updates on the whole server. Anyone tried this before with 73 GB disks?
