Cluster OVC Compatibilty Test Failed
We are trying to add a new host to an exsisting cluster and we are getting an error that the compatibility test has failed.
The installer we're using is 4.2.0.97. The error says the cluster should be at version 4.1.3.95.
We performed a software show and all of our clusters are running at 4.2.0.97, so we don't know where it is seing the 4.1.3.95.
We uninstalled Deployment Manager and reinstalled, we installed deployment manager on a brand new machine. Still no luck.
We found a "hack" list before. When we tried it, the next option was avilable, but failed at step 7 saying the OVC was not compatible.
1) Login to Deployment manager machine. ( do not start the deployment Manager)
2) Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\SimpliVity\DeploymentManager
3) Edit the file "Simplivity.DM.View.exe.config"
4) Change the value to ‘True’ in following line <add key="PredeployValidationOverride" value=“False"/>
i.e. <add key="PredeployValidationOverride" value=“True"/>
5) Start the deployment manager and proceed for deployment.
We do have a ticket open with support, but hoping maybe someone on here can help.

Re: Cluster OVC Compatibilty Test Failed
Hello,
The problem is possibly not related to Deployment Manager and definitely do not recommend using that "hack", it has nothing to do with this. Make sure that you have tiny image (.img file) 4.2.0 mounted in the host that you want to deploy and that you boot from it. You can mount the tiny image as virtual media in iLO and when the server is booting, press F11 to select the Virtual USB drive. Let the boot process continue. Once the boot is complete, you should see the version in the deploy screen of the host.

Re: Cluster OVC Compatibilty Test Failed
I've been working with support since last week. They have verified that we are using the correct image file and they even ran through the whole process while doing a screen share. They also suggested "the hack" just to see if it works.
I have to agree it is not deployment manager as I installed D/M on another machine and received the same error.
They pulled many logs and are reviewing it and I'm waiting to hear back. We have a big project that is on hold until we can get this resolved.

Re: Cluster OVC Compatibilty Test Failed
Take a screenshot of the iLO console showing the SimpliVity installer screen and post it here. I am thinking you're not booting from the correct one. What model is your server? Some older servers had an image on an internal USB, it's possible it is taking that one instead.

Re: Cluster OVC Compatibilty Test Failed
Appears to be the correct version, when you run a 'svt-federation-show', are all nodes showing its "Family" value correctly?

Re: Cluster OVC Compatibilty Test Failed
Correct, they all show the same value as vSphere as family and all versions are 4.2.0.97
