Hello Community members,
Greetings !
We have got hpe simplivity Cluster setup, up and running. Recently I patched with the latest hpe customized ESXI patch on both nodes.
For this setup, we have third HOST , where Arbitrator and Vcenter server installed. I need to patch this HOST.
Question: Can I shutdown Arbitrator VM without affecting the Simplivity Operation ? Please kindly let me know if you have done this, or know.
The suggestion from HPE is schedule downtime. Does that mean, none of the VMs are accessible which are running on Simpivity Cluster ?
Any suggestions, highly appreciated.
Binod

Re: Hpe Simplivity Patch update
Hi Binod
May I know the software version and cluster setup? I mean whether it is a 3-node cluster or 2+1 node cluster
if it is a 2+1 setup you can shutdown arbiter it will not any effect on the cluster as long as both nodes are up and running
if it is a 3-node cluster then according to the software version of SVT we don't need to have an arbiter server
Hope this helps.!!
Regards
Mahesh

Re: Hpe Simplivity Patch update
Hi Mahesh,
Thank you for your reply.
Version: 4.1.0.536
It is 2+1 Node architecture, ie. 2 simplivity nodes in cluster and Arbiter is installed in independent host.
The host to patch I am talking is third one (where Arbiter is installed).
Ok, then I can shutdown the arbiter and upgrade patch on that host without affecting the Cluster Operation . Thanks for letting me know. I will give it a go and update.

Re: Hpe Simplivity Patch update
Hi Mahesh,
YES, I was able to update the patch. With some reason, HPE Proliant DL20 server didn't take the HPE customized patch, so patched with the one I downloaded from VMWARE.
Thank you so much for your assistance, this really helped me.
KInd regards,
Binod
