Hi all,
I am trying to redeploy a node, and the deployment manager is stuck at OVC management IP Address Availablitiy/Virtual Controller Management IP Adress Availability
I am reusing the IP adresses of the host, but I have tested and none is reacable as ... the host is not deployed yet.
I am trying with deployment manager for 4.1.1U1 and 4.1.2, but both get stuck at the same spot in the validation.
Additionally I cannot interrupt the validation so I need to kill the process for the deplyment manager.
I would appreciate any hint as to how I can overcome this

Re: Simplivity Deployment manager stuck on validating virtual controller IP availabiulity
Hello @AleksandarPeev
Thank you for using HPE SimpliVity forums.
Was that node removed from federation and removed from vCenter's inventory before attempting the redeployment? Not clear if that was done.

Re: Simplivity Deployment manager stuck on validating virtual controller IP availabiulity
Hi,
I forgot to put that in the question.
Yes the node was removed from the federation (from the vcenter GUI) and after the OVC shut down the host was placed in maintenance mode and then removed from the inventory.
The host was then reset to factory defaults.
The Simplivity installer is not configured to use any of the IP adresses that are to be used for the deployment of the host so all of the IP adresses are unreachable.
In the orchestrator log i can see that the verification gets stuck on the following line:
About to run ping command: powershell -Command "$result = Test-Connection -ComputerName 10.22.32.41 -Count 1 -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue;if ( $result ) { if ( $result.ResponseTime -eq 0 ) { Write-Host 'time<1ms' } else { Write-Host ('time={0}ms' -f $result.ResponseTime) } }"
The strange thing is .. If I for example do assign the host IP address to the Simplivity installer the step that checks the availability of the IP adress gets the green checkmark ..
Those verifications should turn up with the green check mark only if the ping to the IP adress fails... right?
Regards,
Aleksandar

Re: Simplivity Deployment manager stuck on validating virtual controller IP availabiulity
It doesn't fail with the temporary IP if you assign it later to the host management network.
Do you have any non Simplivity standard interface added to a PortGroup, like an iSCSI interface?

SolutionHi,
I am sorry I have wasted your time on this ...
It appears that the VM I was using to run the deployment was crippled ... or the antivirus was overreacting ..
Anyway, I built another vm from scratch and ran the deployment ... worked like a charm!

Aleksandar

No problem, I'm glad it ran and completed successfully.
