VMware snapshot or SimpliVity Backup before VM Windows update
Hi All,
We are Have Simplivity Hosts, and I am new to Simplivity, Is it ok to put VMware snapstop before updating any VMs or do we need to take simlivity backup of VMs before updating a VM or do both?
Please advise what is the best practice?
Regards
Nami

Re: VMware snapshot or SimpliVity Backup before VM Windows update
Hi Nami,
Good day.
Its a good idea to take a VMware snapshot of a VM before its being updated. So Snapshot will be something that will help you revert back to the same state of that VM, however a SimpliVity backup, would ensure that the entire VM is backed up and in case if there is an issue, then you can go about restoring the entire VM itself.
So both the options are pretty good, depending on how you wish to proceed with.

Re: VMware snapshot or SimpliVity Backup before VM Windows update
You can do any of the two options, but the SimpliVity backup will be faster and take basically no space.
