Install Issue
Hi,
I updated the firmware as per the below Service Pack. Only 3/4 components are inatalled. In ILO, the changes have taken place and it has updated according to the Service Pack. Normally, I never see only 3/4 components are installed. If 4/4 components are staged, I see 4/4 are installed. In this case 4/4 INSTALL is missing. My question is, should I update again? Kindly give your advice, what should be done in this scenario. Thanks

Re: Install Issue
Hi @Angoora-1 ,
- Check iLO and OS to see reported versions for all 4 components.
- Review the update installer log and iLO/system event log for errors related to the missing component.
- Reboot the server during a maintenance window if the package is staged.
- If the component still isn’t installed, reapply that single component or the full SPP, capturing logs.

Greeshma

Re: Install Issue
Hi @Angoora-1
This behavior is not abnormal in HPE OneView and does not automatically indicate a failed update.
HPE firmware workflow separates staging, installation, and activation, so counts like “3/4 installed” do not always mean failure
One component may:
already match the baseline
be dependency-blocked
or be staged but not yet activated
HPE explicitly notes that firmware compliance should be validated by baseline status (OK), not just install count
Therefore:
You should not re-run the update blindly.
First confirm whether all components are baseline compliant or pending activation.
Only if a component is:
inconsistent with baseline, or
explicitly failed
then reapply the update or use reinstall options.

Validate firmware baseline compliance (not just count)
In OneView → check:
“Baseline = OK”
NOT just “Installed count”
HPE defines:
“OK” = version matches baseline
Check if component is “Installed Pending Reboot”
If yes:
System is already updated but not activated
onsider reinstall only if mismatch exists
HPE recommends:
Use “Reinstall components” option if needed
This forces alignment even for compliant components

Reapply ONLY if there is inconsistency alert
If you see:
“Firmware inconsistent with baseline”
Then:
Reapply profile or update again (HPE recommended action)
