Cannot install Redhat Linux in rx2600

Hi,

I have 4 disc of Redhat Enterprise AS2.1 for Itanium OS and I would like to install it in rx2600 server. However, when I input disc 1 and go to EFI mode to boot it, it will load the disc and hang the system. What is the problem about it??

Simon:

There appears to be a limitation in the EFI console when booting the Linux CD's; you need a Enablement Kit for Linux CD to build Linux on the server.

Where can I find the Enablement Kit for Linux CD?? Can I download it from internet??

Hi Simon,

if you're already able to boot the elilo utility, then please append "console=ttyS0" to the kernel options if you are installing via the serial console. Otherwise all console output will be directed to the VGA port after the kernel is loaded (this looks like the server is hanging).
