Solutionhpux -is single user mode and you can set the password that way on a system.
If its MP/CSP you have to null it out by erasing the bios

If they are not the same and has been changed by the previous administrator then the only way is to reset the MP physically. However reseting will reset the IP as well hence you have to change the MP LAN IP Address as well to access it from remote.

1.console(MP mode)

interrput the HPUX kernel loader when prompted
on the shell>
type: boot vmunix [escape hooking within 10 second]
3. HPUX> boot vmunix -is -lq
(ls : single user mode , lq : without checking LVM quorum)
4. mountall
5. vi /etc/passwd
root:sklfjadldfajslfj:X:X~~~~~
modify
root::X:X~~~~
erase passwd section
