GSP/MP is hung

Hi,

My MP is not responding when I do a telnet. The MP IP is pingining but not getting the telnet, it was working eversince I got this server installed by HP.

Is there any way I can reset the MP from OS ? Will a power re-cycle help me in getting the MP back functional ? My hardware is rx-8640.

Forgot to add
command is stty +resetGSP
see man stty for the same.

Hi,

Try this command from OS. It may help.

# stty +resetGSP
If it doesn't you may need to use the MP reset switch which is located in rear side of the server.

yes, u can just press the MP reset button anytime while the OS is still running without any impact.

I tried both......see below,

stty +resetGSP sh: /dev/GSPdiag1: Cannot find or open the file.

# stty +resetGSP
This operation is not permitted.

hi vijayy, next to the serial console port, there is a mp reset button that you can press using a pen or pencil. that can be done online without harm to the os running.

Note : HP-UX command "stty +resetGSP < /dev/GSPdiag1" is not supported on MP. It can only be applied to a GSP port in N-class or L-class servers.

Has anyone got a picture of that MP reset hardware.....I need to educate my datacenter support guy..

Hi Vijay,

MP reset switch will be rear side very near to console port. it cannot be accessed by hand. You have to use small sharp things like pensil or small pins.
